The genus Elasmotherium, also known as the « Unicorn Dinosaur » or « Giant Siberian Unicorn », is a species of extinct rhinoceros that lived in Eurasia in the Late Pliocene and Pleistocene.
After writing an article on pegasus and mythical animals we are going to study the unicorn dinosaur unicorn. Their existence dates back 2.6 million years, although their most recent fossils date back to around 29,000 years. The most famous species of this genus, Elasmotherium sibiricum, was the size of a mammoth, it was covered in hair and had a large horn on its forehead, hence its nickname « Siberian unicornAccording to the first estimated descriptions, the beast was about 2 meters high, 4.5 meters long and weighed an impressive weight of 4 tons. Some experts claim that it may have been the origin of the legend of the mythical unicorn, as it had a single horn two meters long, pointed and thick. This is why it is also often called a giant unicorn.

The origins of this alleged Unicorn dinosaur
It is an animal that inhabited the steppes of Russia and D’Central Asia and actually looked more like a rhinoceros than a horse. Until now, scientists believed that the animal went extinct 350,000 years ago. However, analysis of a new fossilized skull found in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan indicates the Unicorn Dinosaur has become extinct. 29,000 years ago. This 300,000-year gap, which is already significant, also contains something vital, namely that the Siberian unicorn would have coincided in time with the human being. We are therefore far from the Jurassic era when the famous Tyrannosaurus dinosaur lived … Its nickname Unicorn Dinosaur is therefore not entirely correct.
The horn of this animal, known scientifically as Elasmotherium sibiricum, could be up to two meters long. In addition to its length, the horn is distinguished by its exceptional thickness and sharp appearance.

The remains of this animal have just been found at Kazakhstan and they caused a revolution because of their dating. However, he had a horn on his head that was about two meters long, which was thick and grayish. It is the Sibiricu elasmotherium, an animal of the rhino family that was believed to be extinct 350,000 years ago and which, in light of the discovery of a fossilized and well-preserved skull in Kazakhstan, has in fact lived until only 29,000 years ago. What is surprising is that such an animal managed to survive until such a late period, according to a study published this month in the American Journal of Applied Sciences. The explanation lies in the region that gives it its name, the Siberia, where the Unicorn Dinosaur could have taken refuge, in a favorable habitat longer than in the rest of the planet. Researchers are now trying to link environmental factors and the extinction of unsuitable species, which could facilitate projections into the future. This animal differed from the current rhinoceros in that it had only one horn, much longer and sharper, thicker at the base, probably the result of the fusion of the two horns of the species that survived until day.
Unicorn Dinosaur: Everything About Its Extinction
Elasmotherae disappeared from fossils at the end of the Pleistocene, around 10,000 years ago, along with much of the northern hemisphere’s megafauna, which is considered the most likely extinction date for this alleged Dinosaur (which is not of course). However, some claim that populations of this species may have survived a few more millennia, giving rise to certain beasts from the folklore of the Eurasian steppes.
